Stitching is the signature element in my work. I drill tiny holes in the metal and pull fine silver wire through by hand, building texture and dimension one line at a time. Some pieces use 22k gold wire for contrast. The stitches are permanent, but they're not what holds the piece together. Each piece is constructed using traditional jewelry techniques like soldering for strength and longevity. The stitching creates the surface texture and pattern. Every stitch is intentionally placed to build the overall composition.

The stitching technique. Each piece is stitched with fine silver wire — and sometimes 22k gold — creating texture and dimension across the surface. This technique is unusual in jewelry. It gives the work depth that changes as light moves across the surface. You can see the handwork from across the room. The jewelry is designed for both form and wearability, so it feels natural and comfortable when worn.

Yes and no. I make some designs repeatedly, like my bestselling Square Upon Square earrings, but each one is stitched by hand in my studio. No two pieces come out identical. The stitch placement, the way the metal responds to heat, the subtle variations in texture — these make every piece its own. For one-of-a-kind pieces, those are marked in the product listing and won't be remade once sold.

I work with precious metals chosen for durability and beauty. Argentium Silver — brighter white color than traditional sterling, highly tarnish resistant, hypoallergenic. This is the base metal for most of my work. Fine Silver — 99.9% pure silver wire. This is my primary stitching material. 22k Gold Wire — Used for stitching in select pieces, creating warm contrast against silver. Bi-Metal — a layer of 22k gold bonded to sterling silver. This gold layer is much thicker than plating or vermeil and will not wear away. Oxidized Silver — some pieces are intentionally darkened to create contrast. Pearls — many designs incorporate freshwater baroque pearls or Tahitian pearls. Natural Stones — if a design includes gemstones, the stone type is listed in the product description. All stones are natural and free of color enhancements.

Most pieces are made with Argentium silver, which is brighter than traditional sterling and highly tarnish resistant. The stitching is always done with fine silver or high-karat gold, both of which resist tarnishing. With normal wear and occasional cleaning with soap and water, the jewelry is easy to maintain.

Argentium silver contains a small amount of germanium, which makes it more tarnish resistant and brighter white than traditional sterling silver. It's also hypoallergenic for most people. I chose it as my primary metal because it holds up to daily wear and lets the stitching stay visible without constant polishing.

Bracelets and cuffs come in three sizes: Small (6" interior), Medium (6.5" interior), and Large (7" interior). Wrap a piece of string or measuring tape around your wrist and measure the length. Yes. My earrings are designed to be lightweight and comfortable for all-day wear. Customers often tell me they're surprised by how light they feel once they put them on.

Most earwires are made from Argentium silver, which is hypoallergenic for most people. Earring posts are typically sterling silver, but they can often be made in Argentium silver or gold upon request. Gold posts will incur an additional cost based on the current price of gold.

Yes. Many earrings can be made as clip earrings upon request. Email before ordering to discuss options.

Sometimes. In certain designs it's possible to convert a post earring into a hanging style. Because each piece is constructed differently, I evaluate this on a case-by-case basis. Email me and I'll let you know what's possible.

Most necklaces include adjustable chains, so you can vary the length slightly. If you prefer a different length, I can often customize the chain. Email before ordering to discuss options.

Yes. Because the materials and stitching technique stay consistent, pieces complement each other even if they were purchased years apart. Many customers start with one piece and add others over time. The designs are intended to work together naturally rather than feel overly matched.

Most pieces can be cleaned with cool water and soap. I use Dawn dishwashing liquid. Wash gently with your fingers, rinse with cool water, and dry with a soft cotton cloth or let it air dry. Avoid polishing cloths on stitched or oxidized surfaces — they can alter the texture and finish.

Wash oxidized pieces with cool soapy water only. Avoid brushes or polishing cloths, which can remove the intentional darkened finish. Dry completely to avoid water spots.

Wash pearls with soap and water. Dawn dishwashing liquid works well. Dry with a soft cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners, and steam.

Remove jewelry before swimming, showering, or sleeping. Chlorine, salt water, and prolonged exposure to hot water can affect metals and pearls. Ready-to-ship pieces are finished and in my studio. They ship within 1–2 business days. Made-to-order pieces are created after you order. Each product page lists the estimated shipping time. Orders ship in plain outer packaging for security. Inside, your jewelry is packed in a presentation box suitable for gifting. Most orders ship via USPS, though UPS or expedited shipping can be arranged.

Yes. Note that your order is a gift in the order notes section at checkout. I'm happy to include a handwritten message with your package.

Yes. Gift cards are available as digital certificates. They can be used online and at my art shows.

Returns and exchanges are accepted within 7 days of delivery. Items must be in original condition. Customers are responsible for return shipping and insurance. One-of-a-kind and commissioned pieces are final sale. Email info@suzanneschwartzjewelry.com before sending a return so I can assist you.

Yes. Craftsmanship is central to my work. If something happens due to a problem in workmanship, I'll repair it. If a repair is needed due to normal wear over time, I'm happy to evaluate it. Email me or bring the piece to one of my shows.
